Mustard Farming Tips: To increase the yield of mustard crop, proper care and balance of the number of plants is very important. With proper management, plants remain strong, grains are large and of quality, and the farmer gets more profits with better yields. Know in this news how farmers can achieve bumper production by protecting their crops from damage.
Shahjahanpur: For good production of mustard, it is very important to properly manage the number of plants in the field. If thinning process is not done 15 to 25 days after sowing the crop, competition among the plants increases, due to which not only the yield is affected but the grains also remain small. Thinning provides plants with adequate sunlight, water and nutrients, making them stronger and producing more branches. This process will also help in protecting the plants from falling and reducing the risk of diseases. Thinning at the right time can increase the yield by 10 to 15 percent.
Agriculture expert Dr. NP Gupta said that thinning is necessary for the mustard crop. Using higher seed rate at the time of sowing increases the number of plants in the field, due to which the plant struggles for sunlight, water and soil nutrients for growth. Due to this competition the growth of plants stops.
Benefits and method of thinning
Thinning the mustard crop improves air circulation between the plants, which protects the crop from the outbreak of fungal diseases like white rust. When the plants are at sufficient distance, their roots develop better, due to which the plants are able to absorb more moisture and nutrients from the soil. For thinning, first the weakest and damaged plants should be identified and removed. Do this work by pulling it by hand or with the help of a small trowel.
