Police have once again exposed a conversion gang in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Police have arrested 11 people, Pastor Bhola Patel, resident of Revatipur Ghazipur, Krishnakant Tiwari, Angnu Prasad, Maya Patel, Phoolpatti Devi, Sushila, Hiravati, Renu and Sadhana, who converted near the church in Kharhara village on December 14. Four religious books, Bible, 10 copy books, 3 smart phones and a keypad phone have been recovered from them. This syndicate was exposed by the police after the complaint of Anand Dubey, a resident of Kurkuthia. According to Anand, an attempt was made to mind wash him and an attempt was made to convert him from Anand Dubey to Anand Joseph. However, he was not affected by the miraculous powers and did not get trapped.
Pretending to be sick, he used to cure it in the name of holy water.
The facts that have come to light in the preliminary investigation. Church priest Bhola Patel used to convert them. Bhola Patel earlier used to invite people to church. Used to give 20 rupees for prayers in the church and used to give medicine for vomiting or diarrhea as prasad. Some sick people were given medicine to aggravate the disease. As soon as the problem increased after taking the medicine, the priest’s Plan B started. Under Plan B, Bhola Patel used to call those sick people to church and mix medicine in holy water and make them drink it. As soon as a person would get cured after drinking the medicine, the priest would call him a miracle of Christianity and take the opportunity to convert him to his religion.
The poor and Dalits were the target
Bhola Patel, a Hindu turned Christian, used to target the poor and Dalits. Because, due to lack of education and money, they used to impress people by giving medicine in the name of water and claiming it to be a miracle. Not only this, they were forced to convert to religion by assuring them of help in household expenses, children, studies, job and food. This game was going on for 20 years. Thousands of people in and around Kharhara village, located just 7 to 8 kilometers from the city, converted to Christianity after being influenced by the miraculous powers. Bhola was funded by an organization in Lucknow. He used to go to Lucknow with his friend Agnu.

Complainant Anand Dubey told that he met Bhola Patel. Bhola Patel told him about the miraculous powers of Christianity and invited him to church on Sunday. After going to the church, Bhola Patel was there dressed as a priest. He asked to drink holy water. However, Anand Dubey refused. Anand Dubey told Bhola Patel about his miraculous powers and said that he should change his name from Anand Dubey to Anand Joseph. Hearing this, I was shocked and informed the police about this game.
The game is slowly growing
Ganesh, a resident of Chanderpua, told that this game has been going on for years. Healing meetings are organized here on Sundays. In this people are converted to Christianity. After becoming Christians, they are given items for worship at home. Lure is given for studies etc. However, since schools etc. were closed. Since then the number has decreased slightly.
Mirzapur trapped in the syndicate of religious conversion
This issue of conversion to Christianity is not new in the district. Even before this, 12 arrests have been made.
1- On August 10, Jamalpur police had arrested four people involved in the religious conversion gang near Dabak Canal. Among these, Chandanram Bharti, Ritu, Jagdish and Ramlochan were arrested. Conversions were taking place through a healing meeting in a house, where the police took action after a complaint.
2- In Ahraura, on September 29, the police had arrested 5 people associated with the religious conversion gang. Among them, Dev Sahayam Daniel resident of Tenkasi Tamil Nadu, Mithilesh Kumar, Omprakash, Paras Sonkar and Thomas Ram were arrested. These gangs used to tempt women by offering them freedom from demonic powers and by giving them sewing-embroidery and goods from time to time etc. and gradually convert them to their religion.
3- On October 12, Lalganj police arrested two people who converted to Christianity. In these, James alias Ramdin, resident of Rewa Madhya Pradesh and his wife Sarita Devi were arrested. They used to call the tribals in healing meetings and lure them into converting their religion. From time to time, he used to fulfill their needs and get them converted by asking them to sing songs and worship Jesus in their homes.
4- Rajgarh Police arrested Pramila Devi, involved in the religious conversion gang, on 7 November. Pramila Devi was also involved in a gang of targeted religious conversions by luring people, who was caught by the police.
Funding will be investigated
CO Sadar Amar Bahadur said that the police had raided Kharhara on the complaint of religious conversion. 11 people were arrested. Everyone has been sent to jail. In these, the issue of converting religion by luring has come to light. In the investigation, funding will be investigated and other people involved in the entire gang will also be arrested.

2- Dehat Kotwali police arrested Shajid Ali from Amghat on 27 August. Shajid Ali abducted the girl and got her converted to religion.
3- On August 23, Vindhyachal Police arrested Muzamil alias Shanu. Sanu had also brainwashed the girl and converted her to Islam.
4- Chunar police arrested Amin Mohammad on 25 October. Amin Mohammad raped the minor on the pretext of marriage and forced her to convert to religion. Police took immediate action.
5- On September 23, Kachwan police had arrested Shamim Ansari, who converted his religion on the pretext of marriage. Shamim also got converted into religion by getting trapped in the trap of love. The police sent him to jail.
