Varanasi. Preparations are on for the G-20 conference to be held in India. This meeting, proposed from the month of April to August, will be attended by guests from G20 countries. These guests will be welcomed with Gulabi Meenakari of Banaras so that foreign guests can be introduced to the handicraft and culture here. For this, orders have also come from the ODOP office of Lucknow to the Pink Meenakari handicraftsmen of Banaras and the handicraftsmen are working day and night to prepare it.
The entire family of National Awardee Ramesh Kumar Vishwakarma is engaged in this work day and night in Gai Ghat area of Varanasi. Ramesh Vishwakarma told that on January 9 itself, he had received orders for 2000 sets of pink meenakari cuffings through phone from the Lucknow ODOP office, which has to be delivered by the end of January.
Due to this order, he has to complete the work of 3 months in 20 days only. Vishwakarma and all his family members are working 18 to 20 hours a day. He told that ever since PM Modi and CM Yogi are branding this 400-year-old artefact of Kashi, the artisans associated with it are inundated with orders.
