In the rural areas of Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, some things which were used years ago are still seen. However, due to mechanization, these things are gradually disappearing from rural areas. Nevertheless, in some areas women still use these old things.
When there were no machines, village women used to extract buttermilk and butter from curd with a churner. Even today, despite mechanization, women in some villages still churn butter. This tradition has now died out in urban areas; You will rarely see Mathani in cities.
Ghani Manju, who uses the churner, told that the churner is made from wood. There are two types of churners: a big churner which is tied to a rope to extract the butter, and a small churner which is operated by hand and the butter comes out easily. The butter that comes out of the churn is very different and special in taste.
