Bastar Olympics: Surrendered Maoists and people suffering from Maoist violence from seven districts are included in the ‘Nua Baat’ team in Bastar Olympics 2024. More than four lakh players have registered.
Bastar : Players are very excited about Bastar Olympics. Like last year, this year also Bastar Olympics will be organized in Bastar. This year too, surrendered Maoists and people who were victims of Maoist violence will participate as players in the Bastar Olympics. Bastar Olympics has started in Bastar from 2024. This Olympics has become known in the country and the world because it is being held in Maoist areas.
In this Olympics, the team of surrendered Maoists has been named ‘Nua Bat’. This year, more than four lakh players have registered in Bastar Olympics. The special thing is that surrendered Maoists and people affected by Maoists from seven districts of Bastar division will participate in this Bastar Olympics. After playing block and district level Olympics, it will be played at divisional level.
Maoists’ team name ‘Nua Bat’
The team of surrendered Maoists has been named ‘Nua Bat’. This is a word from Halbi language, which means ‘new path’. This word has been kept for Maoists, because they are leaving the path of Maoism and returning to the mainstream. More than 300 Maoists participated in this Olympics in the year 2024. On Bastar Olympics, Bastar IG Sundarraj P. said that in view of the positive results of Bastar Olympics in 2024, this Olympics is being organized in 2025 also. In this, more than four lakh people participated in competitions at different levels. Currently, district level sports are being held in all the districts.
Divisional level sports event will be organized very soon. In this, a team of surrendered Maoists, rehabilitated Maoist cadres and people suffering from Maoists will be formed. There will be seven teams from seven districts. The eighth team will be ‘Nua Bat’ team, which will have a team of rehabilitated Maoists and people victimized by Maoists.
In the year 2024, 300 Maoists participated in the Bastar Olympics. This year 600 surrendered Maoists are likely to participate. A special category was also kept in 2024, in which games like wheelchair race were kept for the victims of Naxal violence. This event is being organized to boost the morale of the surrendered Maoists. Recently many Maoists have joined the mainstream. Along with presenting them to the world and boosting their morale, such an event is being organized with the aim of motivating those who are currently living in the jungles to come into the mainstream.
