Bihar News: 50 people fell ill after eating food at a banquet in Barh subdivision of Bihar. One after another many people reached the hospital. He complained of vomiting and diarrhea.
Flood Subdivision: In Bihar Barh subdivision, it became expensive for the people to eat food with gusto at banquets. While enjoying the delicious food, no one had any idea that the situation was going to worsen the very next day. One by one, the health of people in the village started deteriorating since Friday morning. Within no time he started complaining of vomiting, diarrhea, stomach ache and weakness. The number of patients reached more than 50, causing chaos in the entire village.
It became a problem for people to have food at a program in Aunta village of Hathidah police station area on Thursday night. Hundreds of people attended this banquet held near Bajrangi Chowk. The villagers who fell ill were first taken to local private clinics, but seeing the increasing number of patients, the family members also started taking them to Marachi PHC. There was a situation of no vacant beds in hospitals and many patients had to be treated sitting on the floor. There was panic among the villagers as to how so many people fell ill in a single night.

The number of children and elderly people is said to be high among the sick. Dehydration occurred in many patients, for whom glucose and medicine were immediately arranged. Doctors treated the patients till late night and advised everyone to drink boiled water and eat light food. Victim’s family member Kamal Nayan told that the food at the banquet seemed completely normal. People were eating with gusto, no one had any doubt. But from Friday morning itself, crowds of people suffering from vomiting and diarrhea started gathering at the hospital.

The villagers said, “We thought that only two-four people were ill, but as soon as the news spread in the village, it came to light that more than 50 people were suffering from the same problem. Even after reaching the hospital, there was so much crowd that the treatment was getting delayed. A team of doctors should be sent to the village immediately, so that the situation remains under control.” Local people say that some food item served at the banquet was defective, due to which mass food poisoning has occurred. However, the health department team has not yet taken food samples for testing.
