Patna: At present, people do not seem to be getting any respite from the dense fog and shivering cold. Even on Friday, due to strong cold wind and fog, people continued to feel cold throughout the day. The condition of the capital Patna was even worse. The situation remained like a cold wave. That is why red alert was issued in most of the districts. As a result, the sun was not visible in any district on Friday. Due to severe cold, timings of schools were changed in Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Nalanda and West Champaran. In Patna now schools are starting from 10 o’clock. The weather condition is going to remain the same today i.e. on Saturday also.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of extremely dense fog and cold outbreak continuing in 12 districts of the state even today. In view of this, red alert has been issued for these districts. Due to very low visibility, road, rail and air traffic can also be affected. Orange alert has been issued in the remaining 26 districts.
Cold day in these districts even today
Today i.e. Saturday, there is very dense fog in the morning in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi and Shivhar. Cold day like situation will persist during the day also. The effect of fog will also remain throughout the day. Besides, cold westerly wind will also continue to blow. That is why IMD has issued a red alert.
Apart from this, there is dense fog in the remaining 26 districts including Patna, Gaya, Jehanabad, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Jamui, Munger, Saharsa. For this reason Orange Alert has been issued. Overall, severe cold and winter day like situation will prevail in entire Bihar even today.
When is there hope for relief?
IMD has said that at present there is no hope of getting relief from this severe cold. This weather condition will remain like this till 23rd December. After that there is hope of getting relief. Till then people have been advised to remain cautious.
What will be the condition of temperature?
According to Bihar Meteorological Service Center, the daytime temperature is expected to be between 14-18°C (much lower than normal) in parts of Patna, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Arwal, Jehanabad and Nalanda districts and between 20-25°C in other districts of the state. Dry weather with moderate wind speed (up to 30 km/hr) is likely to continue over most parts of the state.
Day temperature below 15°C
During the last two days, the day temperature in most of the districts of Bihar has fallen by 10°C below normal. The situation has become such that in many districts the maximum temperature has reached below 15°C. The day’s maximum temperature was recorded at 12.5°C in Dehri, while 14.8°C was recorded in Patna. Similarly, in most of the districts of the state the day temperature was recorded around 15°C. This season had the lowest temperature so far.
