Faridabad: The effect of winter is continuously increasing in Haryana. In the last week of December, fog has engulfed the entire state. In the early morning the situation becomes such that even the road ahead is not visible. Visibility has reached zero in many places. For this reason, the India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in 16 districts of Haryana. These include Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Jind, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Jhajjar, Rewari, Gurugram, Faridabad, Palwal and Nuh. The department clearly says that people will need to be extremely cautious in the next few days.
The effect of fog is most visible in big cities like Faridabad and Gurugram. The operation of trains has been affected. Many trains are arriving late by hours, due to which passengers have to wait for a long time at the station. On the other hand, the risk of road accidents has also increased. Every day news of accident is coming out somewhere or the other. Experts are advising that people driving in the morning and night should use low beam lights and avoid speeding.
The sudden change in weather has made the cold even more severe. A decline of about 2 degrees has been recorded in the average maximum temperature of the state. Although the temperature is still around normal, the chill is expected to increase in the coming days. Very different temperature levels are being seen in different areas of Haryana. While the day temperature in Sirsa has crossed 25 degrees, in some areas of Panipat and Jind people are facing cold even during the day. There has been a huge drop in daytime mercury in Rohtak, Jind and Gurugram, due to which the effect of the weather is being felt more harshly.
The Meteorological Department says that active western disturbance will now affect North India. Due to this, fog will continue to show its effect in the state for the next few days. There may be some relief in some districts after December 21, but it is not expected to end.
There will be no major change in the minimum temperature in the next 24 hours, but after that the night temperature may go down by 2 to 3 degrees. This will further increase the cold in the morning and evening. There is no possibility of rain at present, but due to falling minimum temperature the severity of winter is sure to increase. In such a situation, the general public is being advised to be careful while going out and travel only when necessary. In this changing mood of the weather, it has become very important to take care of health.
