According to well-known gardening expert Devendra Dhiwar of Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, this rose is becoming increasingly popular among gardening lovers due to its beauty, large size and excellent fragrance. He tells Local 18 that the biggest feature of the Calcutta rose is its deep and attractive colors. Its flowers are not only very beautiful to look at but are also much larger in size than normal roses. He further told that if Calcutta rose is planted in a pot during cold weather, its growth is very good. In winter, the size of flowers becomes even bigger and flowering is also seen more frequently and continuously. In this season, its flowers and leaves remain fresh for a long time, due to which the beauty of the plant remains.

Regarding the selection of pot, gardening expert advised that 12 to 14 inch sized pot is most suitable for Calcutta rose. This size is considered sufficient for the spread and good growth of the plant’s roots. While preparing the soil, a nutritious mixture should be prepared by mixing mustard cake, neem cake, cow dung, vermi compost and paddy straw or coco peat in black soil or sandy soil. With this mixture the plant gets essential nutrients and growth is accelerated.

Regarding watering, Devendra Dhivar says that it is necessary to water the Calcutta rose at an interval of every one to two days. However, care should be taken that water does not accumulate in the pot. Also, one should avoid keeping this plant in shade. It is very important to provide it with good sunlight, which improves the growth and flowering of the plant.
