The crisis of cancellation of flights at Lucknow’s Amausi Airport has been deepening for the last several days. On Sunday, 33 flights were canceled, many were diverted and 740 passengers had their tickets cancelled. Amidst this disruption and tension, a tragic accident occurred. A passenger waiting for the flight became ill due to stress and died. Which has raised questions on both the system and accountability of the airport management.
Passenger waiting for flight dies due to deteriorating health
46-year-old chartered accountant Anup Pandey, resident of Kanpur, was waiting for the flight at the airport. His connecting flight to Bengaluru was continuously getting cancelled, due to which he was quite stressed. According to the airport police, during this time he suddenly suffered a heart attack and was taken to the nearby Lokbandhu Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. In this case, the family members allege that no treatment was given at the airport. In the video, the security staff is giving him CPR. After which he also regained consciousness. There was no ambulance facility. If he had been taken to the hospital in time, his life might have been saved. He lost his life because of the airport authority. Strict action should be taken on this. Anoop lived in Bengaluru with his family and had come to Kanpur to attend the thirteenth birthday party of a relative. When his health deteriorated, his wife and children were in Bengaluru, who reached Kanpur by taxi as they could not get a flight.
Sisters cried bitterly due to flight cancellation
Due to cancellation of flights, the scope of problems was not limited to just one family. When the flight of two real sisters from Balrampur was suddenly cancelled, they cried bitterly at the airport. Her brother had left her and she was helpless to return. Similarly, the entire journey of Gorakhpur resident Kapil Yadav to Abu Dhabi was ruined because the flight from Lucknow to Mumbai was cancelled. Many passengers going to Delhi also got angry at the airport because despite repeatedly getting their tickets confirmed, they were disappointed.
huge anger among passengers
Air traffic has almost come to a standstill due to repeated flight cancellations by Indigo Airlines. Passengers allege that airlines are canceling flights without prior notice, resulting in huge expenses on hotels, taxis and re-tickets. Many passengers have demanded immediate intervention from DGCA.
After continuous chaos, increasing passenger resentment and one death, the question now is whether the negligence of the airport management and airlines is putting the safety and rights of passengers at risk.
