Hamirpur: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in a village in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, where a 62-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by drinking pesticide. The surprising thing is that he had earlier tied his hands and legs with tape so that he could not suffer while drinking the poison. Police gave this information regarding the incident on Tuesday. According to the police, Shakuntala Devi, resident of Ser village of Hamirpur, had left home at around 4 pm on Monday afternoon.
At around 7 pm, she called her husband and told him that she had consumed pesticide, but the husband did not take her seriously. The next day after the incident, on Tuesday, her husband found her dead body in the field near the house. Police said that Shakuntala Devi had left the house two-three times before without informing. According to police officials, the woman had tied her own hands and legs with tape so that she could not struggle while drinking the poison. Three years ago, one of his relatives had also committed suicide in a similar manner. As soon as information about the incident was received, the police and forensic team reached the spot and collected evidence.
Additional SP Rajesh Kumar said that in the preliminary investigation it seems to be a case of suicide. No injury marks were found on the body, mobile phone and earrings were also found on the spot. The body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation into the case is underway. The deceased’s husband is in bad condition and crying. People in the area are shocked over the suicide incident.
