Ambassador Mohamed Al Khaja met Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi in Jerusalem.
Al Khaja said in Arabic that the relationship between the two countries is a ray of hope in human history for all peace loving people. In August, Israel and the UAE announced an ‘Abraham Accord’ in the US arbitration. After this, the two countries signed an agreement to establish full diplomatic relations in the US on the lawn of the White House.
America in mediation in Abraham Accord
After August, the US has signed deals to start diplomatic relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco. Until that time, Egypt and Jordan were the only Arab states that signed peace treaties with Israel in 1979 and 1994, respectively. The UAE is the first country to establish full diplomatic relations with the Jewish state under the US Abraham Agreement Had agreed. The agreement was led by former President Donald Trump. Israel opened its UAE embassy in January under the leadership of veteran diplomat Ethan Neh Abu Dhabi. Israel and the UAE have already signed treaties on direct flights and visa-free travel, as well as agreements on investment protection, science and technology. Khaja is scheduled to visit Israel’s National Holocaust Memorial and Education Center, Yad Washam, on Tuesday. (With language input)
