Anemia Warning Signs: When a person does too much physical effort, it causes fatigue. If you are not doing much physical activity, but are still facing problems like fatigue, dizziness or shortness of breath all the time, then it could be a sign of some problem. According to health experts, all these can be symptoms of anemia. Anemia is a condition when the amount of hemoglobin in the blood becomes less than normal. Hemoglobin works to transport oxygen to every part of the body, hence its deficiency causes less energy in the body and the person feels weak. Women are more at risk of anemia than men.
Dr. Sonia Rawat, Director of Preventive Health and Wellness Department, Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi, told StuffUnknownthat Many symptoms are seen in people’s body due to anemia. Anemia develops slowly, due to which its symptoms are difficult to recognize initially. In case of anemia, symptoms like yellowing of face and lips, dizziness, getting tired quickly, rapid heartbeat, cold hands and feet, shortness of breath, hair fall, breakage of nails or formation of white lines on them are seen. In severe anemia, a person feels tired even after walking lightly. Women have a higher risk of anemia due to excessive bleeding during periods, pregnancy and delivery.
Dr. Rawat said that the biggest cause of anemia in women is deficiency of iron, folic acid and vitamin B12. Iron helps in making hemoglobin present in red blood cells, which transports oxygen throughout the body. When iron decreases, hemoglobin also decreases and the body feels tired due to lack of oxygen. Apart from this, excessive bleeding, poor digestion, kidney disease, stomach worms, pregnancy and low nutritional diet are the main causes of anemia. Due to junk food, irregular eating, stress, staying awake late at night and diet devoid of nutrients, the body does not get enough vitamins and minerals, due to which the process of blood formation gets affected.
Experts said that to get rid of anemia, one has to take a diet rich in iron, folic acid and vitamin B12. For this, consume green leafy vegetables like spinach, fenugreek, amaranth, beetroot, carrot, jaggery, sesame, raisins, dates, pulses, eggs, fish and millet. Consume things rich in Vitamin C like Amla and lemon. Vitamin C helps in absorbing iron in the body. In Ayurveda, Amla juice, Panchgavya Ghrit, Giloy, Punarnava, Ashwagandha and Shatavari are considered especially useful in increasing blood. Along with this, regular exercise, adequate sleep, stress control and keeping distance from junk food are also important. Consult a doctor in case of severe anemia. The doctor can give supplements according to the condition.
