Wheat Cultivation Tips: Preparations for Rabi season are in full swing in Chandauli, but experienced farmers say that new farmers often start plowing only when the soil is not ripe properly, which weakens the germination of seeds and along with expensive ploughing, the cost of farming also increases. Let us know what things should be kept in mind before sowing wheat.
Chandauli: The best time for sowing wheat in eastern Uttar Pradesh is considered to be from mid-November to 10th December, because the temperature and moisture during this period are ideal for faster germination of the crop and better tillering. For early maturing varieties, 15–25 November, while for normal duration varieties, the time from 20 November to 10 December is considered most suitable. If sowing is done after December 10, the yield may decrease by 10–20% due to increasing cold and heat at the time of harvesting.
After harvesting of Kharif crop in Chandauli district, farmers are now fully engaged in preparations for Rabi season. Wheat sowing has started in the district. Farmer Bhai Lal Sonkar told Local that new farmers make a common mistake at this time, which affects their hard work and reduces the crop yield.
Do this work on ridges
Lal Sonkar told that before cultivating wheat, he plows the field with a tractor. Then after that wheat seeds are added. Add fertilizer along with it. After that the fields are plowed again with a tractor. He told that dye, potash and urea have been added to the fertilizer. Along with this, mustard seeds were also sown along the wheat fields, the yield of which also becomes good and it is used for spices or oil.
More money is being spent in plowing the fields
At the same time, Bhai Lal Sonkar told that he cultivates more wheat because paddy can be bought cheaply, but the rate of wheat is expensive. He told that those who are new farmers, before cultivating wheat, they should check that the land is ripe, after that plow the field with a tractor, after that apply fertilizer and get good yield. He told that at present it is costing more money to plow the fields with the rotovator fitted in the tractor. It costs one thousand rupees to completely plow one bigha field.
When to apply fertilizer in the field?
He further said that earlier farming used to cost less money, earlier one bigha was plowed for Rs 500-700. The reason for the recent increase is the price of diesel. Earlier, fields were plowed with Naiharwa, but the price has not increased because of the rotovator, the price has increased only because of the diesel rate. He told that then when filling will be done, we will apply fertilizer in the field, maximum after 21 days. Wheat cultivation in Chandauli is getting started a little late due to rain water. Now the wheat plant will emerge after about 10 days.
