Farmers of Bastar are earning lakhs of rupees by cultivating chilli. Good rates of chilli are also available in the market. There is a lot of demand for green chillies in the market. For this reason, farmers mostly prefer to cultivate chilli. Chilli cultivation is very easy. This farming does not require much maintenance. Chilli is a long lasting crop.
Samlu Kashyap of Bastar has been cultivating chilli for about seven years. There is not much incidence of diseases in chilli cultivation. They are cultivating chilli in hi-tech manner. Apart from chilli, Samlu Kashyap has also cultivated bitter gourd and semi in his field. They earn lakhs of rupees annually from these crops.
Cultivating chilli in one acre

After this the soil should be pulverized with a rotavator. After this the bed should be made. The distance from bed to bed should be five feet. The distance from plant to plant should be one foot. Seeds are sown in chilli cultivation. Cow dung manure is used in this. Apart from this, after planting the sapling, some farmers also add micro nutrients like DAP, Single Super Phosphate etc. This crop lasts for seven-eight months.

For planting in one acre, it costs Rs 80-90 thousand along with drip, mulching and pegs. Profit depends on the market. It becomes at least three lakh rupees. If you get good rates in the market then it can be even higher. Chilli is mostly affected by thrips and minor diseases. For this, Simodis, Plesiva and Delicate are used for thrips.
