Shimla. Even after 11 years, the family of the child victim in the much-discussed Yug murder case of Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, has reached the Supreme Court against the decision of the Himachal High Court, still waiting for justice. Yug’s father Vinod Gupta has filed an SLP in the Supreme Court challenging the decision of the Himachal High Court, which has been accepted by the court.
In fact, on September 23, the High Court, changing the decision of the lower court, acquitted one convict Tejinder Pal, while the death sentence of two others was changed to life imprisonment. The victim’s family has now approached the Supreme Court against this decision. On September 5, 2018, the district court had sentenced Tejindra Pal, Chandra Sharma and Vikrant Bakshi to death after convicting them in the murder case of four-year-old innocent Yug. After this the matter was sent to the High Court for confirmation. After hearing the case, the High Court commuted the death sentence of convicts Chandra Sharma and Vikrant Bakshi to life imprisonment. Due to lack of evidence, the third accused Tejinder Pal was acquitted giving the benefit of doubt.
Yug’s father Vinod Gupta said that he was not satisfied with the High Court’s decision and said that the accused who had a major involvement in Yug’s murder has been acquitted. Therefore, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against this decision. Now the only hope is from the Supreme Court that they can get justice. In the petition, they have requested that these three accused should get death sentence. All the culprits were hanged in the lower court. He said that he is not satisfied with the decision of the High Court. My son was put in the tank while still alive. He said that the CID had worked very hard in this case, but he is not satisfied with the decision given by the High Court. He said that his petition has been accepted in the Supreme Court, but the date of hearing of this case has not been decided yet.
When was Yug of Shimla murdered?
In the year 2014, on June 14, Yug, son of Vinod Gupta, resident of Ram Bazar, Shimla, was kidnapped. Investigation found that the accused took him to a rented house near Ram Chandra Chowk, Shimla. Here he tortured Yug. After torturing the innocent child for a week, the kidnappers threw him alive in the drinking water tank of the Municipal Corporation in Bharari. On August 22, 2016, on the instructions of Vikrant Bakshi, CID recovered Yug’s bones from inside and outside the tank. After this, Chandra Sharma and Tejindra Pal of Ram Bazaar were arrested.
