New Delhi: An Indian Air Force officer was arrested on Saturday for allegedly giving false information about a bomb to delay the departure of the Mumbai Rajdhani Express from New Delhi railway station. Police gave this information. According to the police, the PCR command room informed the police about the bomb call at 4.48 pm. He said that the train was about to leave for Mumbai at 4.55 pm. Bomb disposal squad of railway and central district were called. Police said that the Railway Protection Force also joined the operation, but no explosive material was found in the train.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Harish HP said, “The mobile number was tracked and it was found that the call was made by Sergeant Sunil Sangwan (35) in the Indian Air Force.” An FIR was registered against Sangwan under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Railway Act and he was later arrested, the police officer said. According to the police, Sunil Sangwan was to board a train to go to his place of posting at the Air Force base in Santacruz, Mumbai.
According to the police, he came late and made a fake call to the Railways in an inebriated state to delay the departure of the train from Delhi. The Deputy Commissioner of Police said, ‘The caller was caught from coach B-9 seat number-1. He was identified by his Indian Air Force identity card. His mobile phone has also been recovered. He told, ‘The medical examination of the caller was done in which it was confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol. Legal action is being taken against him under the law.
