Elliot Daly will play for the first time since breaking his arm while playing for the British & Irish Lions in June when he starts at full-back for England against Argentina on Sunday.
The 33-year-old replaces Tom Roebuck, who suffered a foot injury in last weekend’s 33-19 win over New Zealand.
Daly’s inclusion is one of six changes to the starting XV as coach Steve Borthwick, whose hand is partially strained by injury, experiments with more combinations.
Henry Slade makes his first England start since February with outside center Ollie Lawrence ruled out with a hamstring problem.
Elsewhere, there is an entirely new front row with Ellis Genge and Luke Cowan-Dickie called up alongside Asher Opoku-Fordjour, who is making only his second start in the Test.
Ben Spencer starts at scrum-half, while Theo Dan is named on the bench and Saracens teammate Jamie George ruled out with hamstring problems.
Marcus Smith is on the bench once again, with full-back Freddie Steward showing no signs of concussion after a head knock against the All Blacks, and fly-half George Ford, who scored 13 points last weekend, retained.
England are chasing their eleventh consecutive victory to close a hugely encouraging 2025 in style.
Argentina aims to complete a hat-trick of victories on its tour of the northern hemisphere, after beating Wales 52-28 and coming back to beat Scotland 33-24 last weekend.
They will have to buck historical trends to achieve this as they have only won five of the previous 29 Test matches. However, the Pumas emerged victorious on their last visit to Twickenham, edging out the 2022 contest by a single point.
