Faridabad: Pragya of Lingayas University, Faridabad has done something which everyone will be stunned to hear. While studying engineering, he along with his team has created a unique robot which moves exactly like a spider and its actions also look exactly the same. The interesting thing is that this robot looks like a spider and moves forward by crawling on the ground and yes, when needed, you can also put it on your shoulder.
what is the purpose
While talking to Local18, Pragya told the whole story of her special project. He told that his team has named this project Spider Robot. This is a mimic robot which moves like a real spider. Everything from its design to its movements is inspired by the spider. The real objective is to help humans in such places which are dangerous or very tight.
will save people’s lives
Pragya told that Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is installed in the head of this robot. It can identify the human body. As soon as it sees a person’s hand, leg or face, it immediately sends that information to the backend system. Imagine how useful this can be in mining areas or places where people get trapped under stones.
Will take responsibility in rescue operation
Often it becomes difficult to find people after accidents because the space is very narrow and big machines are not able to reach there. In such a situation, this small spider robot can go there easily. It can see under the stones whether someone is trapped or not. If there is someone then his information will be available immediately and the rescue operation will also become easier. The most important thing is that no human life will be in danger because robots will go there in place of humans.
how does it work
Pragya also told that it has many types of sensors installed in it which can detect even very small human body parts. He used Arduino Nano for coding. Due to AI feature, it can also recognize its surrounding environment. Another specialty of this project is that it can be used in two ways, if you want, you can separate it and put it on your shoulder. At that time it keeps an eye on the surrounding things and captures what the person is seeing. That means it also works for surveillance.
how much did it cost
Pragya told that this project was completed recently and it did not cost much. It took only about Rs 2000 to make the entire robot. All its body parts are 3D printed and made in his college itself. Pragya believes that this project is the result of the hard work of her entire team. His senior Akash guided him and everything happened under his supervision.
Work to improve continues
Finally Pragya told that she is an engineering student and she started research only after seeing new technologies on TV or internet. Gradually, while learning and understanding, he prepared this robot. Further, his plan is to further reduce the size of the robot, so that it can go into tighter spaces. Currently it runs on power bank but soon there is a plan to run it on battery. Work is also being done on which part uses how much battery, so that the robot can become better.
This project of Pragya and her team not only shows a new perspective in technology, but this robot can also save many lives in the future.
