Corona Vaccine: President of the Public Health Foundation of India, Prof. K Srinath Reddy also said that in fact all economists in the world agree on this.
He said in an interview to PTI-language, “Vaccination should be free because in any public health emergency especially infectious diseases, government finance support is needed. Actually it is considered public interest.
He said, “Actually all economists in the world agree on this. Therefore, there is no question of any country levying a fee on a public health emergency …. people buy (vaccines).
Reddy said that if someone wants to go to a private hospital of his choice and get vaccinated according to his convenience, then he can pay the service fee but the vaccination should be free. When asked when he expected the current second wave of Kovid-19 in India to reach its peak, he said that it depends.
He also said that he does not rely on the mathematical paradigm of speculating about the Kovid-19 transition because it does not take into account that there are both rural and urban areas in India where there are different rates of infection. He said, “….. all the (mathematical) paradigm is based on how the virus acts, not how we react.”
