Train Ticket: Railways has made changes in the ticketing system at many levels. Brokers used to book tickets by dodging the system in different ways. To stop this, Railways has stopped black marketing of train tickets by taking steps like anti-bot system, OTP verification and fake ID block.
New Delhi. Railways has taken many strict steps to prevent irregularities in online booking of train tickets. Since the beginning of this year, Railways has blocked 3.02 crore suspicious user IDs, installed anti-bot system in Tatkal ticket booking and made OTP verification mandatory for online Tatkal tickets in 322 trains. The effect of these steps is also visible. The time to get Tatkal tickets has increased in 95% of 96 popular trains. This means that now passengers are able to get confirmed Tatkal tickets more easily than before.
Railways claims that after these steps, the ticket booking process has become more transparent, secure and passenger-friendly than before. Where earlier the tickets used to disappear in a jiffy as soon as the Tatkal window opened, now this is not happening. Tatkal tickets are limited and are in high demand during peak season. There are often complaints of brokers booking tickets by tricking the system in different ways. Railways has taken these complaints seriously and is trying its best to stop black marketing of train tickets.
Block of 3.02 crore IDs
Railways has closed 3.02 crore suspicious user IDs from January 2025 till now so that black marketing of tickets can be stopped. These were the same IDs which were used in black marketing and fake booking. Railways has installed anti-bot system in Tatkal ticket booking. The effect of this is that now tickets are not being booked through machines or automatic systems made by brokers. This has made it easier for common passengers to get Tatkal tickets.
OTP verification started
Aadhaar based OTP verification has been made mandatory during Tatkal ticket booking in 322 trains. This facility has also been implemented at the reservation counters in 211 trains so that offline ticketing remains equally safe. When a passenger books a Tatkal ticket, an OTP is received on the mobile number. The ticket will be issued only when the passenger enters this OTP. This has stopped the entry of fake bookings and brokers to a great extent because every booking is directly linked to a mobile number.
