Air India Fare Cap- Lakhs of passengers had to face problems due to cancellation of many Indigo flights and during that time the air fares had suddenly increased a lot. Keeping this in view, the government had asked the airlines to impose a price cap on tickets.
New Delhi. Air India Group has imposed a fair cap on air ticket fares. This step has been taken following the instructions of the government. The government had given this instruction after the sudden increase in air fares due to large scale cancellation of Indigo flights. Now Air India has said that its economy class tickets will not be sold more expensive than the maximum limit fixed.
The biggest relief will be given to those passengers who have recently purchased tickets at higher prices during the transition period. Air India has clearly said that those who have booked tickets at base fare more than the prescribed limit, the difference amount will be refunded. That means the extra amount will be returned to their account without doing anything.
Changes in booking system started
Air India has said in an ex-post that it has started implementing this new rule in the booking system. This process has been completed in Air India Express, whereas this change is being done in a phased manner in the remaining flights of Air India. This means that new, lower and controlled fares will start appearing on all platforms in no time.
