The matter is not limited to paper fraud only. The action was taken on the land of Khasra number 792. It was registered in the names of people who had died years ago. Yet the documents were shown to be from 2004, as if the deceased people were alive and they themselves had issued power of attorney. This raises the question whether it was just a game of land grab or were bigger networks active behind it? ED’s investigation so far is moving in this direction.
Fake documents, deceased owner and land transfer
According to ED, the entire process of land transfer was based on fake General Power of Attorney (GPA). The date of January 7, 2004 was mentioned on the GPA document. But the people whose names were in the papers had died decades before this. Despite this, land was sold and transferred on the basis of the same GPA.
The matter is not limited to paper fraud only.
Forgery in the names of deceased persons – prominent names
| Name | when did you die |
| nose ring | 1972 |
| Harbans Singh | 1991 |
| Harkesh | 1993 |
| Shiv Dayal | 1998 |
| Jayaram | 1998 |
Understand the entire land scam in one point
- GPA was created in the name of deceased persons.
- Fake thumbprints and signatures in documents.
- The sale deed was further prepared using these documents.
- The land was named after Tarbiya Education Foundation.
- The ultimate beneficiary is the same institution which is accused of having links with the university.
Sale deed made after nine years – an attempt to give ‘legal form’ to the fraud
- Fake GPA prepared in 2004.
- Registered sale deed was made in 2013.
- The land was shown to be sold for ₹75 lakh.
- Vinod Kumar, the seller, but the owners are also dead.
- Buyer-Tarbia Education Foundation (affiliated with Al-Falah).
This sequence shows that the fake GPA was just a first step. The real goal was to transfer the land to the foundation and it was accomplished after about nine years.
The name of the university first came into limelight when one of its professors was accused of involvement in the Red Fort blast.
What is GPA and how was it used in fraud?
GPA is a document in which one person gives rights to another like signing documents, buying and selling land on his behalf. But if the person on whose behalf the rights are being given is not alive then the GPA is legally considered void. Here this loophole became the basis of crime.
From Red Fort blast to land scam – how did the investigation reach this point?
The name of the university first came into limelight when one of its professors was accused of involvement in the Red Fort blast. After this, the arrest of the people involved, questions related to the recognition of the university, then the revelations of money laundering and now land acquisition – the stairs kept opening one after the other. Here it becomes clear that the matter is not just about the educational institution but raises questions related to the game of network, influence and money.
The story is not going to stop here
ED’s investigation has indicated that this matter of land grabbing is even deeper. Making fake documents, misusing the identity of dead persons and registering the land in the name of the institute. All this turns this investigation into not just money laundering but systematic extortion and fraud. Further action of ED will decide whether this matter is limited to only one university or its roots are present elsewhere also.
