Momos have become everyone’s favorite snack these days. But momos made from flour are not considered good for health because flour is heavy to digest and lacks fiber. If you want to enjoy the taste of momos without compromising on health, then use wheat flour instead of maida. Let us know the easy way to make healthy momos from wheat flour.
Material
For the dough:
Wheat flour – 2 cups
Salt – as per taste
Oil – 1 tsp
Water – as per need
For filling:
Cabbage – 1 cup (finely chopped)
Carrot – ½ cup (grated)
Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
Green chilli – 1 (chopped)
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
Soya sauce – 1 tsp
Salt – as per taste
Black pepper powder – ½ tsp
Oil – 1 tsp
Method of preparation
1. Prepare the dough
Add salt and oil to wheat flour and knead a soft dough with water. Keep it covered for 15-20 minutes so that it gets set.
2. Prepare the filling
Heat oil in a pan. Add ginger-garlic paste to it and fry. Then add onion, carrot and cabbage and fry on high flame for 2-3 minutes. Now add soya sauce, salt and black pepper and mix well. The filling is ready.
3. Make Momos
Take a small ball of dough and roll it into a thin roti. Place the filling in the center and fold the edges to give the shape of momos. If you want, you can make it round or crescent shaped.
4. Steam
Heat water in steamer. Place the momos in the steamer and steam for 10-12 minutes. Keep in mind that the momos should not be overcooked otherwise they will become hard.
5. Serve
Serve hot wheat momos with chili sauce or tomato chutney. If you want, you can also serve green chutney.
