Health Benefits: Ayurvedic experts say that Amla has a deep effect on the body during the cold season. Dr. Arvind Tiwari, Medical Officer of Rewa Ayurved Hospital, says that Amla has been used as a medicine for centuries. In Ayurveda it is called Rasayan. Rasayan means that thing which maintains health and does not allow disease to reach the body. According to Dr. Tiwari, there are six tastes in food – sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent. Amla is one of the very few fruits in which all these six tastes are found together. This quality makes it most special. The body goes through many challenges in the cold season. Problems like cold, cough, asthma, allergies and joint pain increase.
