The process of auctioning a total of 13 sand ghats located in the main rivers of the district, Ganga, Budhi Gandak and Bagmati has been started. The Mining Department has decided to manage these ghats for the next five years. Under which the entire process will be completed through e-auction. The District Mining Department has completed all the necessary preparations.
11 ghats of river Ganga included
According to information received from the Mining Department, 11 sand ghats identified on the banks of river Ganga have been included in the auction. The area of these ghats is different, which will provide opportunities to both small and big scale investors. The area of Ghat N-1 has been determined as 9.6 hectares, N-A 18.5 hectares, N-C 18.5 hectares, N-D 31.6 hectares, N-E 52.25 hectares. Whereas Two-A Ghat will be spread over 35 hectares, Two-B 15.6 hectares, Two-C 13.6 hectares, Three-A 14 hectares, Three-B 9.9 hectares and C Ghat will be spread over 7.9 hectares. Apart from this, sand mining will be allowed in 20.6 hectares in Budhi Gandak River and 6.8 hectares in Bagmati River. This is expected to increase both the availability of sand and revenue in the district.
Maximum two ferries per person
Interested applicants can apply online through the website of the district administration till 26th December. After this, the process of e-auction will be started from December 29. According to the rules, separate tender documents and separate earnest money will have to be deposited for each sand ghat. A person, firm, committee or company will be given the settlement of maximum two sand ghats or 200 hectare area (whichever is less). This system will already be inbuilt in the e-auction system. Registered companies, partnership firms, societies, co-operative societies, sole proprietorships and individual applicants can participate in the auction. The condition is that there should not be any dues in the Mining Department or Bihar State Mining Corporation. The administration believes that this transparent process will promote legal mining in the district and effective control on illegal mining will be possible.
