Winter Dry Skin & Dandruff Care Tips: Due to cold air and low humidity in winter, skin and hair problems increase by 11 percent. By adopting some tips, you can get relief from this problem to a great extent. There are just some precautions that you have to take.
While the winter season provides cold relief, many skin and hair related problems also increase during this time. Cold air, low humidity and lack of sunlight have a direct impact on skin and hair health. According to experts, skin related problems increase by about 11 percent in winter compared to summer. In such a situation, if proper care is not taken in time, problems like dry skin, itching and dandruff can become serious.
In winter, the cold wind quickly destroys the moisture of the skin, due to which the skin starts feeling dry, lifeless and stretched. At the same time, the skin of the head also becomes dry, due to which the problem of dandruff increases. Apart from this, people drink less water in this season and try to avoid sunlight, which proves harmful for skin and hair.
The first and most important solution is to take bath with lukewarm water. Bathing with too hot water in winter destroys the natural oil of the skin. Therefore, it is better to take bath with lukewarm water only for 5 to 10 minutes. This keeps the skin safe and reduces dryness.

Another solution is to use moisturizer after bathing. Applying moisturizer within 5 minutes of bathing helps in maintaining moisture in the skin for a long time. According to experts, natural or medicated moisturizer should be selected according to the skin type, so that the skin can get complete nutrition.
The third important step is to use SPF 30 sunscreen. Often people think that sunlight does not cause harm in winter, but UVA and UVB rays can harm the skin even in this season. Applying sunscreen with at least SPF 30 while going out is beneficial for the skin.
The fourth solution is not to shampoo hair frequently. Excessive shampooing makes the scalp dry and dandruff increases. Use mild and sulphate-free shampoo only 2 to 3 times a week. Along with this, massaging the scalp with light hands is also beneficial.
The fifth solution is to protect the hair from cold wind. While going out, cover your head with a cap or scarf. This maintains moisture of hair and reduces the problem of dandruff. The sixth and final solution is to include Omega-3 and seasonal fruits in the diet. Nuts, seeds, green vegetables and fresh fruits strengthen the skin and hair from within. Besides, drinking enough water is also very important.
