The concept of marriage in Islam is very clear. The view of Islam is that Allah Almighty created the entire human world from only one man and one woman.
Aligarh: It is often seen that people prefer to marry their sons and daughters within their own caste and community, but is it really a religious compulsion to marry within one’s own community and caste in Muslim society? When people decide relationships only on the basis of Saifi-Saifi, Khan-Khan and Sherwani-Sherwani, is this a condition of Islam or just a tradition created by the society? Does Islam really bind marriage within the boundaries of caste and family or is this thinking just a habit of people that has been going on for centuries. To know the answers to these questions, Local 18 spoke exclusively to Maulana Chaudhary Ifrahim Hussain.
What is the viewpoint of Islam?
Giving information, Chief Mufti of Uttar Pradesh Maulana Chaudhary Ifrahim Hussain said that the concept of marriage in Islam is very clear. The view of Islam is that Allah Almighty created the entire human world from only one man and one woman. When the basic foundation is one, then there is no concept of caste, community, family or any kind of high and low in Islam.
No caste is big, no caste is small
Maulana said that according to Islam, no caste is big, nor any small. Neither is there any nobility in being a Saifi, nor is there any specialness in being a Khan, nor has any privilege been given to Sherwani or any other community. All human beings are equal. However, in Islam, tribes are mentioned only for identification, so that it is known who belongs to which family. This identity is not meant to make anyone superior or superior, nor is it meant to limit marriage to any particular community.
Marriage with another Muslim is legal among Muslims.
Maulana said that marriage among Muslims can be done anywhere, with any Muslim. Islam did not impose any restrictions on this. Today, people who prefer to marry within their own community may have social or family reasons for this, but it has nothing to do with Islam. Islam gives equal status to all Muslims and does not impose any condition of caste or community in marriage.
