Major Blaine McGrath, a gynecologist at a military hospital in America, has been seriously accused of secretly recording dozens of female patients. Authorities have filed 61 charges against him, including 54 charges related to secretly making videos. After the veteran’s complaint, during investigation, thousands of pictures and videos were found from the doctor’s phone. The Army has informed about 3,000 patients about the investigation. McGrath is currently in jail.
New Delhi. An incident that is embarrassing to the safety and trust of female patients has come to light in an American military hospital. A gynecologist in the US Army has been accused of secretly recording and taking photographs of dozens of female patients during medical examinations. On December 9, authorities announced that Major Blaine McGrath had been charged with 61 individual counts, including indecent visual recording. According to CNN report, out of the 61 charges against Major McGrath, 54 charges relate to secretly recording patients and these charges involve 44 victims. In a recent lawsuit, McGrath has been described as a predator in uniform.
How was the doctor caught?
The incident occurred while he was at Carl R. Fort Hood in Texas Co. Darnall was posted at the Army Medical Center. Earlier, he had also served at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii from 2019 to 2023. The matter came to light when a combat veteran went to a medical appointment with his wife. The veteran noticed that gynecologist McGrath’s phone was partially out of his pocket, with the camera lens facing outwards. The veteran caught a glimpse of the screen and suspected the doctor of recording. He immediately informed the hospital staff and went into the lobby and shouted, “I have just caught a doctor recording my wife’s private parts. Immediately after this incident, the doctor was suspended and an investigation was initiated.
Thousands of videos and photos exposed
A lawsuit revealed that McGrath’s phone contained thousands of photographs and videos taken over several years, many involving female patients. These women have not been identified yet. Another lawsuit alleged that McGrath used his position to sexually assault, manipulate and secretly record women.
Contact was made with 3000 patients
McGrath has been accused of sexual misconduct with more than 75 female victims during his previous posting in Hawaii, and this number is expected to increase. The Army has informed about 3,000 patients who received treatment from McGrath at Fort Hood and Hawaii about the investigation. Currently, McGrath was suspended from patient care through October 2025 and is currently incarcerated in a Texas jail pending trial. A preliminary hearing will soon be held to initiate court-martial proceedings against him.
