The truth of this claim and also a unique story is hidden in the city of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. In fact, this initiative was actually launched and made headlines not only in the country but all over the world.
The scheme was started to promote healthy lifestyle
Cluj-Napoca, a major city in north-western Romania, started this unique way of motivating its citizens for fitness in 2020. The initiative was taken by the sports festival in collaboration with the city hall and local council during the celebration of the European Week of Sport. Its main objective was to “make people realize the direct benefits of physical activity.” All people had to do was stand in front of a booth and do 20 squats in 2 minutes. The camera counted the squats and upon completion, a free bus ticket was given from the machine. This ticket was valid for one journey in the city’s public transport.
