According to the information, by installing 7 biofloc tanks in just 300 square feet space, farmers and rural women can earn up to Rs 4 lakh in 6 to 8 months from fish farming. Fisheries Department employee Parmanand Kumar says that the government provides up to 60% subsidy to rural women in this scheme, while rural men are given 40% subsidy. The remaining amount has to be invested by the beneficiaries themselves.
Under biofloc technology, rearing fish in a tank of 10,000 liter capacity costs around Rs 30 to 35 thousand. In this tank it is possible to produce about 3 quintals of fish at a time. The special thing is that production can be taken twice in a year, due to which there is a possibility of doubling the income.

Under this method, a tank of at least 4 meter diameter and 1.5 meter height is used. The tank is started by filling it with water from the hand pump. After that 700 to 1000 pieces of fish fingerlings are released. To maintain the quality of water, it is necessary to change it from time to time. Apart from this, food supplements of 2mm to 4mm size are regularly given to the fishes.
