Egg wholesaler Zubair says that every year the demand for eggs increases manifold as the weather becomes cold. But this time the demand is more than previous years. He told that at present about 3,000 carat eggs are being sold in the market every day. Considering that there are 30 eggs in one carat, the consumption in the city has increased many times compared to normal days.

Demand for eggs will increase further

Zubair says that it is only the initial phase of winter, hence the demand for eggs is higher than usual. As the cold increases in the coming weeks, there is every possibility that the consumption of eggs will also increase further. He said that excluding hotels and restaurants, local residents alone are buying about 3,000 carats of eggs daily. This figure may increase further in the coming time.

Price increase with increasing cold

At present, the price of one carat egg in the market is fixed at Rs 230, whereas in retail, one egg is being sold for around Rs 8. There is also a possibility of further increase in prices due to increasing demand. Local shopkeepers say that when the cold increases, people consume more eggs to get protein and energy. Apart from this, due to increase in the use of eggs in homes, dhabas and bakeries, the market has gained full momentum. At present the demand for eggs is at its peak in Nainital and in the coming days this figure can also create a new record.
