New Delhi: Restrictions imposed under the third phase of the Phased Response Action Plan (GRAP) have been lifted amid improvement in air quality in the national capital. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) gave this information on Sunday. The third phase includes ban on non-essential construction and demolition activities, stone breaking and mining activity in the National Capital Region.
However, the restrictions applicable under the first and second phase of GRAP will continue. A sub-committee of GRAP found that there has been a marginal improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi. It was at 353 (very poor) on January 14 and further touched 213 (poor) on January 15, following which the decision was taken.

The CAQM said, ‘Based on the decision of the sub-committee on GRAP, the third phase of restrictions were implemented in the NCR on January 6. The sub-committee in its meeting on 15th January reviewed the air quality scenario in the area and decided to lift the restrictions of Phase III with immediate effect…’
