New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Thursday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has proposed four dates for the election of the mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). He said that the proposal has been sent to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.
Sisodia said in a tweet that the MCD has been working without a mayor for the last eight months and further delay is not right. Sisodia said, ‘A proposal has been sent to the Lieutenant Governor to hold the mayor’s election in Delhi on January 18, 20, 21 or 24. They have been requested that the MCD has been working without a mayor for the last eight months. Therefore, it is not right to delay further.

The first meeting of the newly elected House of MCD on January 6 was stormy. Nominated (Alderman) members to be sworn in first ‘You’ And members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clashed with each other. Because of this, the meeting of the House was adjourned without conducting the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
