Rampur News: Rampur’s MP-MLA Magistrate Court can give its verdict against Abdullah Azam in two passport cases on Friday. If Abdullah Azam is found guilty, he could face a maximum sentence of seven years.
Rampur. The MP-MLA Magistrate Court of Rampur is likely to give its verdict on Friday in the case against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan’s son and former MLA Abdullah Azam Khan for making two passports on the basis of two different dates of birth.
Announcement of punishment if found guilty
In this case, the arguments of both the parties and the testimony of witnesses have been completed. Now only the decision is awaited. Abdullah Azam, currently lodged in Rampur District Jail, will appear before the court today through video conferencing. If the court finds him guilty then Abdullah Azam can be punished today itself. There is a provision of maximum imprisonment of up to seven years in this case.
Strong security arrangements
Heavy police force has been deployed in the court premises. Samajwadi Party workers have started reaching Rampur before the decision, while the BJP camp has called it a victory of law. It is noteworthy that in another similar case, Abdullah Azam has been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment on November 17 for making two PAN cards, the appeal of which is being heard in the Sessions Court today itself. Today’s decision in the two passport cases may further increase Abdullah Azam’s legal troubles.
Hearing today against sentence in two PAN card cases
The appeal filed against the sentence of Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam Khan will be heard in the MP-MLA Sessions Court of Rampur today on Friday. On November 17, 2025, the MP-MLA Magistrate Court of Rampur had convicted both of them in the case of making two different PAN cards and sentenced them to seven years of imprisonment each. The court had also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh each on both of them. The very next day of the punishment, both of them had filed an appeal in the court of Sessions Judge Vijay Kumar. In this, a request has been made for stay on punishment and bail. Today the first formal hearing will be held on this appeal. Both are currently lodged in Rampur district jail.
This will be the argument of the defense
The case dates back to 2019 when BJP leader Akash Saxena had lodged a complaint at the Civil Lines police station that Abdullah Azam had made two PAN cards on the basis of two different dates of birth. After investigation, the police had registered a case against Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam under sections of fraud and forgery. The main argument of the defense in today’s hearing will be that the case is completely documentary and the sentence of seven years is extremely harsh. The defense will demand an immediate stay on the sentence and grant of bail. Strict security arrangements have been made in the court premises. On the other hand, BJP leader Akash Saxena has said that the law is taking its course and the culprits should not get any relief. The political circles of entire Uttar Pradesh have their eyes fixed on the outcome of the hearing.
