An uproar has arisen over the speech of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani. In the meeting of the Governing Body Council of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in Bhopal, Maulana Mahmood Madani has raised serious questions on the Supreme Court. Madani said that the courts are working under pressure from the government. Madani even said that the Supreme Court does not have the right to be called Supreme.
Maulana Madani first raised questions on the recent decisions of the Supreme Court and its functioning and said that ‘the influence of the government on the courts is clearly visible in cases like Babri Masjid and divorce. The hearing of Gyanvapi and Mathura disputes ignoring the Ibadatgah (place of prayer) law is a matter of concern. He further said that the Supreme Court deserves to be called ‘Supreme’ only when it obeys the Constitution. If this does not happen, then questions arise about his being supreme.
Mahmood Madani appealed to the Muslim community to avoid despair and said, ‘Despair is poison for any community.’
‘Whenever there is oppression, there will be jihad’
While speaking on Jihad, Maulana Madani said that the opponents of Islam have presented Jihad as a synonym for violence. He said, ‘Muslims are being insulted by using words like love jihad, land jihad, spit jihad. Whereas Jihad is a sacred duty in Islam. It has different meanings in the Quran… for the betterment of humanity and society.
He emphatically said, ‘Whenever there is oppression, there will be Jihad… I repeat this, it is the moral responsibility of every heavenly religion to stand against oppression.’ After this statement, slogans of ‘Nara-e-Takbeer, Allahu Akbar’ were also raised in the meeting.
Madani also clarified that Jihad is not an act of personal revenge, rather it can only be decided by a government running under Shariat. He said that India is a democratic country and there is no concept of Islamic rule here, hence making Jihad a topic of debate is unnecessary.
What did Madani say on Vande Mataram controversy?
Apart from this, Madani has given a big statement on the controversy regarding Vande Mataram. He said, ‘Dead communities surrender. If asked to say ‘Vande Mataram’, she will start speaking. A living community faces the situation.
However, other Muslim organizations have distanced themselves from this statement of Maulana Madani. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind President Maulana Saadatullah Hussaini said that creating controversy over an issue like Vande Mataram is irrational. He said, ‘Every person has the right to live according to his beliefs and express patriotism in his own way. It is not logical to impose any one slogan or song on the entire country. Those who want to express their love through Vande Mataram, do so. Rest of the people should express their love for the country in their own way… it is their right.
