Bada Chapri village of Pahadia community under Boarijor block of Godda district is still forced to live in darkness. Let us know about this village…
The people of this village have been running their daily routine for years without electricity. As soon as evening falls, the entire village sinks into darkness. Every need like education, treatment, communication and employment is getting affected due to lack of electricity. Villagers say that their voice reached the government and administration several times, but till now a permanent solution has not been found.
Solar pillars are lying closed
Village resident Shiv Lal Hansda says that about 4 to 5 years ago, under a scheme of the Central Government, solar pillars were installed for every house in the village. In the beginning, this definitely gave some relief to people from darkness, but with time these solar systems started deteriorating. Also, due to lack of maintenance, most of the solar poles are lying closed today. The few solar pillars which are still working. With their help the villagers charge their mobiles.
There are only 30 houses in the village
The situation here is such that if there are 30 houses in a village locality, only 15 of them have mobile phones. Among these also only 5 people have smartphones. Due to lack of electricity, even keeping a smartphone has become a challenge here. Due to network and charging problems, digital facilities are not able to reach this village.
Villagers are forced to live in darkness
Villagers say that children’s education is being affected the most. Forget about mobile or online education, there is not even light to study properly at night. The villagers are demanding from the administration that either regular electricity supply should be arranged or the solar system should be repaired. Even in the 21st century, if people are forced to live in darkness, then it raises big questions on the claims of development. Bada Chapri village is still waiting. Roshni is of development and concrete initiative of the government.
