Dantewada: Action intensified in the dense areas of Abujhmad, soldiers removed the symbol of Naxalites.

Security forces have taken major action this morning in Abujhmad, a deep forest area located on the border of Dantewada and Bijapur districts of Chhattisgarh. A big memorial (martyrdom pillar) built by Naxalites in Pallevaya village of this area was completely demolished by the security forces. Naxalites build this memorial in memory of their killed comrades. They call it “martyrdom site” and every year they hold a big gathering there and give a weapons salute. This place is very important for the Naxalites, because from here they recruit new fighters and create fear among the people.

This morning, hundreds of soldiers of District Reserve Guard, CRPF and Bastaria Battalion reached Pallevaya village with a big operation. As soon as the soldiers saw this tall monument built in the forest just near the village, the soldiers installed the JCB machine and within a few minutes they completely razed it to the ground. Red flags, Naxalite posters and large stone plaques were also broken and destroyed. Local villagers told that Naxalites considered this monument very sacred. Every year a big meeting was held here in July-August. The villagers could not say anything due to fear, but inside everyone was happy that now this symbol of fear of Naxalites has ended.

Police officials said that this action is part of “Operation Black Forest”. Big campaigns are going on continuously to make Abujhmad Naxal free. Dozens of Naxalite camps and monuments have been demolished in the last few months. So far this year, more than 10 such martyr pillars have been demolished in Abujhmad area. Security forces say that these monuments are a big support for the morale of Naxalites. By eliminating them, the Naxalites become weak and the local people start supporting the police and administration without any fear. After today’s action, security forces have started intensive searching in the entire area. By camping in the nearby villages, the soldiers sought information about Naxalites from the people and also distributed books and copies among the children.

Dantewada SP Ganesh Bharti said that our aim is to make Abujhmad completely Naxal free. One by one we will eliminate all the Naxalite hideouts and their symbols. The common people are now with us and very soon this area will become a new example of peace. The villagers are smiling secretly and saying that now the fear is reducing and children will be able to go to school.
