Lahi Attack On Mustard And Chana: The threat of Lahi insect looms large on gram and mustard crops in this season. This can destroy your crop. Spraying this medicine will keep the crops safe. Know from the expert in what quantity and how to use it.
Palamu. Mustard and gram are among the most important crops of Rabi season for the farmers of Jharkhand and Bihar. A large number of farmers in these states cultivate both these crops, because there is hope of getting good yield and stable market price at low expense. Gram cultivation is considered very successful especially in areas with dry and slightly rugged land, whereas mustard is the main basis of oilseed production for the farmers.
Due to changing weather, high amount of clouds and abnormal temperature, the risk of pests and diseases on both the crops increases these days. This not only affects the yield but also the farmers have to suffer huge losses due to not taking timely measures.
This insect attacks mustard
Dr. Akhilesh Shah, an agriculture expert at the Regional Research Center Chianki in Palamu district, told Local 18 that an insect called Lahi (aphid) grows rapidly on the mustard crop in this season. When clouds cover, humidity increases and cold suddenly subsides, this insect starts sucking the juice by sticking to the leaves and soft stems. Gradually the leaves start turning yellow, the growth of the plants stops and the biggest danger is that the flowers start drying up.
This has a direct impact on the yield. The same insect causes harm to gram crop also, due to which the grain production is affected. In such times, using medicines correctly and on time is considered to be the most effective solution for farmers.
Add this medicine in the beginning itself
He said that it is very beneficial to spray the medicine “Curacrone” as soon as the initial symptoms of Lahi are seen. For this, it is advisable to dissolve 2 ml medicine in per liter of water and spray it. If the infestation has just started and there are less pests on the plants, then one spray is sufficient. This stops the spread of pests and the plant quickly returns to normal condition.
However, if there is excessive quantity of Lahi, leaves have started becoming sticky or flowers have started drying, then it becomes necessary to spray twice. By keeping proper gap between the first and second spray the effect is even better.
Spray in mild sunlight
Always spray in the morning or evening in mild sunlight. Spraying is more effective in windless weather. Preventing Lahi in time not only can save the crop but also improves both the yield and quality. In this way, with a little vigilance and proper care, mustard and gram crops can give good yields, which also directly benefits the farmers’ income.
