Ingredients for Dhaba Style Dal Tadka
Arhar dal – two cups
Tomatoes – 3 finely chopped
Onion 2 chopped
Green Chilli 4, three cut into small pieces
Coriander Powder – 2 teaspoons
Turmeric – 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Ginger and garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
Whole Red Chili – 1
Ghee or butter – 2 tablespoons
Salt – as per taste

Method of preparation of Dhaba Style Dal Tadka
To make dal tadka in dhaba style, all you have to do is wash the dal’s dal and soak it for a while. After this, put this pulse in the cooker. Then add water to it as per need and then add turmeric, salt to it and keep it for cooking. When it melts, turn off the gas and take it down. Then put a spoon of ghee in a pan and let it heat up. Then add onion and fry it after adding ginger-garlic paste. Add green chili too and fry for few more minutes. Then add tomato, red chilli and coriander powder to it and let it cook on a light flame for a while.

After this, add boiled lentils to this pan and cook it for a while on a light flame. When it cooks, remove it from the gas. After this, add ghee in a pan, when it is hot, add cumin seeds. Then add asafoetida in addition to whole red chillies. Then pour this tempering in the lentils and stir the lentils with a spoon. Now garnish with finely chopped coriander. Your dhaba style is ready to be made with tempering dal.
