Dairy Tips: The effect of increasing cold in Madhya Pradesh is no longer limited to humans only, but is also clearly visible on milch animals. As winter progresses, there is a decline in the milk production of milch animals, due to which cattle farmers are facing financial losses. However, if proper eating habits and measures to prevent cold are adopted in time, then this milk deficiency can be prevented to a great extent.
Giving information to Local 18, Dr. Salil Kumar Pathak of Sidhi District Veterinary Hospital said that in cold weather, the body of milch animals spends more energy in generating heat. If they do not get a diet rich in nutrients, milk production is bound to fail. Many cattle farmers keep giving only dry fodder or similar food in this season, due to which there is deficiency of calcium and protein and milk reduces.
According to Dr. Pathak, it is beneficial to give a mixture of jaggery, mustard oil and linseed cake to animals in winter. This maintains heat in the body and also provides energy. Also, calcium and mineral mixture should be given regularly. It is safer and more beneficial to feed Barseem as green fodder after drying it for four-five hours.
Home remedies are effective for cold
While giving information to Local 18, cattle rearer Santosh Kumar Mishra said that home remedies are very effective for cold in the villages. Feeding big roast helps in protecting from cold. Cooking mustard oil, jaggery, turmeric, fenugreek, dry ginger and ginger and giving it once a week increases milk and keeps milch animals healthy. Santosh Mishra told that if an animal gives 10 kg milk, then it is necessary to give it enough grains and straw, feeding only straw will not give milk. Chuni, Khali and Sudana should also be included in the diet.
According to animal farmers, the children of cows and buffaloes are most at risk in winter, who are at risk of pneumonia and infection. Therefore it is important to maintain heat in the enclosure. Making a desi sweater from jute sack and wearing it, exposing it to sunlight in the morning, regular de-worming and spreading paddy straw on the ground proves to be very beneficial. In this way, milk production can be maintained even in winter by adopting right eating habits, home remedies and proper care.
