According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Hurricane Yas (Tauktae Cyclone) has also become a major threat, like Tauktae Cyclone. This round is expected to move at a speed of 155 to 165 kmph to 185 kmph on both West Bengal (West Bengal) and Odisha (Odisha) coast.

Of the 85 NDRF teams, 32 have been deployed in Bengal and 28 in Odisha. Some teams have been deployed in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Bengal government has set up a control room in the state secretariat ‘Nabanna’, which will be operated by Mamta Banerjee herself on Tuesday and Wednesday. According to the Meteorological Department, it is expected to move towards north-west direction and turn into a cyclonic storm by the morning of 24 May. During the next 24 hours, it is likely to be converted into a very severe cyclonic storm. The department further informed that cyclonic storm Yas will continue to move in the north-northwest direction and will gradually intensify. It is expected to reach the Bay of North West Bengal near the West Bengal and North Odisha coasts by the morning of 26 May.
