Weather Update: Cyclonic storm Ditvaha wreaked havoc in Sri Lanka, killing hundreds of people. This cyclonic storm started entering Indian territory from Sunday itself. Due to its effect, there are torrential rains in South Indian states. However, on Monday, this storm turned into a depression 50 km away from the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. If we talk about the weather of North India, the effects of severe cold have started appearing from the beginning of December. The minimum temperature in the areas from Punjab to Delhi-NCR has reached close to 6-10 degrees Celsius. At the same time, along with cold, fog has also started in many areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The Meteorological Department said that the mercury in North India may fall by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in the coming 4 days. At the same time, an alert of dense fog has been issued in some parts of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Odisha.
Let us tell you that even before Cyclonic Storm Ditvaah reached India, our relief and disaster management teams had completed preparations to deal with any challenge. However, the route of this storm was decided that it would pass parallel to the Indian east coast, and so it happened. On Monday, this cyclonic storm Ditvaha turned into a deep depression while passing parallel to the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. According to the Meteorological Department, its effect will start reducing from today i.e. Monday afternoon. Currently, due to its impact, warnings of torrential rain have been issued in five states. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in view of the heavy rain. At present, there is an order to close schools and colleges. Due to heavy rains in coastal areas, flights, trains and roadways services are also affected. At the same time, due to rain in Bengaluru, the feeling of cold has increased. The Meteorological Department said that the lowest temperature of this season was recorded in Bengaluru at 21.6 degrees Celsius.
December begins with severe cold
The first morning of December in North India started with severe cold. Amritsar was the coldest in the last 24 hours, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.4 degrees Celsius. The mercury dropped below 6 degrees Celsius in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal and Uttarakhand. Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, eastern part of Rajasthan and eastern Madhya Pradesh also recorded night temperatures between 6-10 degrees Celsius. At many places the temperature remained below normal by 1.6-3 degrees Celsius. There is dense fog in many states of North India in the morning. Visibility was greatly affected due to fog in the plains of Ganga.
Attention the cold is about to increase
According to the latest report of the Meteorological Department, the cold is going to increase further. The minimum temperature in north-west India will drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius for the next three days. There will be no significant change in all the north-eastern states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bengal for three days. However, after that the mercury will fall again by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. Severe cold alert has been issued in some parts of Maharashtra today. However, the next 24 hours will remain stable, after which the temperature is likely to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius in four days. In Gujarat too, there is no change in the first 24 hours, then a drop of 2-3 degree Celsius in temperature is possible in three days. IMD has appealed to the people to take extra precautions.
