Madurai. A 62-year-old man was killed by his neighbor on Thursday in Dindigul area of Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district for calling his pet dog “kutta” instead of its real name. According to the police, their relative and neighbor Rayappan was warned several times by Nirmala Fathima Rani and her sons Daniel and Vincent not to call their pet as dog.
Police said that the incident took place under Thadikombu police station of Ulagampattayarkottam. Nirmala Fatima Rani and her sons Daniel and Vincent, are residents. He has kept a dog. If someone calls his dog a dog, he gets angry and sometimes it becomes a cause of controversy. On Thursday, his neighbor Rayappan, 62, was at his farm with his grandson. Rayappan asked his grandson Calvin to stop the water pump running in his nearby field. He told Calvin to take a stick with him as the dog might come there.
According to the police, Daniel was present nearby and overheard Rayappan. He flared up and got angry and punched Rayappan in the chest and said how many times have you told him not to call him a dog. Rayappan fell on the ground as soon as he was punched, he was taken to the hospital, but he had already died.
Daniel and his family fled after Rayappan’s death. The police started their search. Police told that in this case Fatima and her sons were arrested. The case is being investigated.
