Cucumber cultivation: Bokaro farmer Gupteshwar Mahato cultivated cucumber in 1.5 acres using scaffolding method and mulching technique. From this farming, he is earning a profit of up to Rs 2 lakh sitting at home. He has become an example of self-reliance through smart farming in his area.

Adopting smart farming, he is cultivating cucumber in 1.5 acres of land using scaffolding method and mulching technique. Where by doing advanced cultivation of cucumber, he is earning double the profit sitting at home.
Farmer Gupteshwar says that he is originally from a farmer family, but for years he used to work as a laborer in the construction sector in Maharashtra, but then after coming back to Bokaro in 2012, he met the agricultural officers of the block. Who explained the benefits of modern agricultural techniques like drip irrigation and seasonal vegetable production. After which he started cultivating vegetables on a small scale and after seeing better production in the very first crop, he completely turned towards farming and today, due to his hard work, he is earning big money from smart farming.
Gets ready in 45 days
Farmer Gupteshwar told that he had sown cucumber in the beginning of October this year and this crop is ready for sale in the market in 30 to 45 days and by adopting the scaffolding method, farmers can get better production from it. Because in scaffolding method, there is less risk of diseases in cucumber and it is also easier to pluck.
At the same time, the cost of cultivating cucumber by scaffold method in 1.5 acre area is around Rs 50 thousand, whereas in the entire season, the production of cucumber in 1.5 acre is 45 to 90 quintals depending on the production and variety of the farmer. At the same time, the average price of cucumber in the wholesale market is Rs 30 per kg and with this, farmers can easily earn a net profit of up to Rs 2 lakh in a season.
Farmer Gupteshwar advised that cucumber farming is a good option for both small and big farmers. Because with this, farmers can become self-reliant by earning more income with less capital and in less time. Through this farming, farmers can earn huge income sitting at home.
