This seasonal demand has also added new glamor to the everyday life of Vijay Dewangan of Devkinandan Chowk. Vijay, who has been supporting his family by selling peanuts for the last four years, is earning well these days by selling more than Rs 2000 daily. The increasing cold and increasing demand have given a new lease of life to their hard work.
Demand for peanuts doubles as cold increases
With the onset of winter, peanut consumption increases in the city. People also like it and consider it a cheap and nutritious snack that keeps the body warm. For this reason, the demand for peanuts during winter is many times higher than during normal days.
Vijay sells more than Rs 2000 daily
Vijay Devangan, who sells pulses in Devkinandan Chowk, says that during the winter season his daily sales reach more than Rs 2000. They buy raw pods from Bilaspur market and fry them on the spot and serve them hot to the customers. They also earn additional income by selling the pods separately.
They sell their carts from 3 pm to late evening.
Vijay reaches Devkinandan Chowk every day at 3 pm with his cart and sells peanuts till late evening. As the evening approaches, the crowd of customers starts increasing and this is the main hour of their earning. The increasing cold is increasing the number of customers visiting his shop.
The family has been making ends meet by selling peanuts for four years.
Vijay, who works hard and honestly, has been supporting his family through this business for the last four years. They say that winter season is the best season for them because maximum sales happen during this time. The peanut stall has given their lives stability and assurance of livelihood.
Peanut business can be started at low cost
If you want to start the business of selling peanuts, it does not require much capital. The initial phase costs Rs 3000 to Rs 5000, which includes everything from scales to roasting and storage materials. After this the work can be started by purchasing raw pods from the market. A little more hard work has to be done in the beginning, but as people start gaining trust, they start becoming regular customers and sales also keep increasing.
