According to a new projection released on Tuesday, there is a possibility of about 36,000 deaths a day till January 26 due to Kovid infection. The reason behind this new apprehension is being attributed to the Lunar New Year holidays in the country, in which many big super spreader events were witnessed.
Analytics company Airfinity had earlier predicted two waves of Covid in China, with the number of deaths reaching 25,000 in a single day, but now the festival season has brought the corona virus to many new places due to travel to home provinces. The rapid spread of has further increased this figure.
Dr. Matt Linley, director of analytics at Airfinity, said, ‘Now we are likely to see a bigger and longer wave of infection.’ He said that these fast Kovid-19 waves mean more burden on health facilities.

“We forecast that China’s health system will be overburdened over the next fortnight and many treatable patients may die due to overcrowding in hospitals and lack of care,” says Linli. Along with this, he said, ‘In some provinces like Hubei and Henan, the demand for ICU beds can be seen six times more than the capacity of the hospital.’
According to Airfinity’s revised estimates, ‘China may see more than 60 million Covid patients between January 13 and 27, with 4.8 million cases daily.’
The company also said that its new modeling increased its estimate of the total number of cases since December 1 to 97.3 million from 72.9 million. At the same time, regarding deaths from Kovid, the company estimates that from December 1, about 575,000 people may die, which is more than the previous estimate of 436,780.
