The number of under-treated patients in Maharashtra has now increased to 6,47,933.
There were 8,811 new cases and 51 deaths in Mumbai, raising the total infection cases in the city to 5,71,018 and the number of dead to 12,301. With 2,72,035 tests done during the day to detect corona virus infection, the number of samples tested so far in Maharashtra has increased to 2,35,80,913.

A government release said that 1,35,159 samples were collected from different parts of the state on Friday under a collective investigation. Ernakulam district of the state has recorded the highest number of 2,187 cases, followed by 1504 in Kozhikode, 1430 in Malappuram, 1154 in Kottayam, 1149 in Thrissur and 1132 in Kannur. More than 11,000 people are treating the virus in Ernakulam and Kozhikode districts. The new people infected include 58 health workers. According to the release, at least 2,18,542 people are currently under surveillance.
