Aligarh: In Muslim society, people are often found claiming that they pull ‘Chilla’ i.e. the claim of controlling some spiritual power. Somewhere someone says that he has got the client under his control, while someone is seen talking about getting the work done by Jinnat, but what is the reality behind these claims? Can a person really control a supernatural creature by shouting or is it all just illusion, deception and superstition? To know this reality, we talked to Muslim religious leader Chief Mufti of Uttar Pradesh, Maulana Chaudhary Ifrahim Hussain.
It is illegitimate to use any spiritual power in Islam.
Giving information, Maulana Ifrahim Hussain, a Muslim religious leader from Aligarh, said that some people in the Muslim community claim to pull ‘Chilla’ and think that they can control some spiritual power, client or jinn and then make it do the desired work. There is no permission in Islam for pulling such pranks, taking possession of jinn or devil and taking help from them. This is simply illegitimate and haram.
Satan, enemy of man
Maulana Ifrahim Hussain says that Allah has clearly stated in the Quran that Satan is the enemy of man and he can never be loyal, hence the claim that any permanent benefit can be gained by controlling these things is also wrong. Yes, by doing such things, a person’s faith and belief can definitely get spoiled, because these forces can deceive or mislead the person by giving some temporary show.
Tantric rituals are performed at different places
Maulana says that chillas are done at different places. Some people do this at home, some at the cremation ground or cemetery. But visiting these places with the intention of controlling spiritual forces is absolutely illegitimate. Similarly, giving or receiving a talisman, with the claim that it will improve, prevent, cure, or provide protection, is also haraam in Shariah. If due to the effect of such action, a fight, quarrel or illness arises between people, then it is such a big crime that its punishment is said to be like that of a murderer.
Praying to Allah is the real action
Maulana has said that those people are different who read the verses of Quran and pray or pray and whose intention is only to ask for help from Allah; This practice is justified. Different durations of chills are said. 11 days, 21 days, 40 days, even up to three months. And some of these people keep reading the verses of the Quran continuously, thinking that they will influence the winds or jinnat on them. But this kind of practice is completely prohibited and against Islam.
