New Delhi: The entire North Indian region remained in the grip of severe cold on Sunday as well. In many areas of Rajasthan, the temperature was recorded below the freezing point. In many parts of the country, the minimum temperature went from minus 3 to 5 degree Celsius. According to the report of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather here is going to be even colder till there is some relief from the Western Disturbance starting from Thursday.
Areas of North India where minimum temperature was recorded
The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at minus 4.7 degree Celsius at Fatehpur in Rajasthan’s Sikar district of North West India Plain. At the same time, Churu, located in the Thar Desert, recorded the lowest temperature of this season at minus 2.5 degree Celsius. The temperature of Faridkot in Punjab was minus 1 degree Celsius. Whereas in north-west and south-east Rajasthan, the temperature was recorded between 3 to 5 degree Celsius.

Delhi is also in the grip
Due to the cold wave, the minimum temperature was recorded in the National Capital Region of Delhi. The minimum temperature in Jaffarpur area dropped to 2.6 degree Celsius, Lodhi Road’s temperature was 3.8 degree Celsius and Ayanagar’s minimum temperature was 3 degree Celsius. At the same time, the minimum temperature of Punjab’s Amritsar was recorded at 1.6 degree Celsius, while other areas of Ludhiana, Patiala, Pathankot, Bhatinda and Gurdaspur recorded minimum temperature of 4.9, 4.2, 8, 1 and 3.7 degree Celsius respectively. While the temperature of Chandigarh was recorded at 6.7.
Havoc will continue for two-three days
The IMD has predicted a drop of up to 2 degree Celsius in northern and central India by January 17-18. During this, the condition of cold wave is likely to become more serious in Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. At the same time, the possibility of ground frost has also been expressed in different areas of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan till January 16-18.
